Apple's WWDC 2014 keynote yesterday was very much a telling sign of the increasingly evolving, connected and mobile world we now live in.    A world dominated by the Internet of Customers.  Where your mobile device is your "remote control" to everything... providing you with access to your data with simple and seamless processes and intuitive design.

“Apple engineers platforms, devices and services together,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook as he wrapped up the Worldwide Developers Conference keynote Monday in San Francisco. “We do this so we can create a seamless experience for our users that is unparalleled in the industry. This is something only Apple can do.”

Apple didn't announce a new piece of hardware - they showed that Software and Services with integration, interfaces and personal and business data accessibility across all devices is driving the Third Wave of Technology.

Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)

Today, every business is a digital business - and a successful digital business strategy is more than having a website and delivering customer-facing mobile apps. Businesses must use digital technologies and competencies to fundamentally change the way they bring value to customers, partners, and employees.

Data powers all digital businesses: it’s the fuel that enterprises use to engage with, understand, and bring value. Data is delivered by APIs, and customers engage with data through modern mobile apps. Together, data, APIs, and apps are the core constructs of digital business.

Extensibility

In information technology, extensible describes something, such as a program, programming language, or protocol, that is designed so that users or developers can expand or add to its capabilities.  This was a huge part of Apple's presentation yesterday.  4,000 new API's and opening up their iOS platform more for developers.

Digital Transformations

A new study from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) demonstrates that CEOs are challenged by digital, with only 20% of respondents claiming to be truly digital enterprises.

The challenges of embedding digital into the foundation of your business are undeniable but the benefits of successfully doing so are clear; the report reveals that businesses with a strong grasp of digital are more than twice as likely to be top performers in revenue growth, profitability and innovation.

Top performing businesses had leaders who were addressing digital challenges in their corporate strategies and filling the gap between ‘knowing’ and ‘doing’.

If you’re thinking of incorporating digital into any aspect of your business, we'd love to hear from you!  Start your Digital Transformation Today.
